Please allow me to introduce myself as the new Regional Coordinator for the Illinois State Section of the American Planning Association's Region 5. This region includes the counties of Bond, Calhoun, Christian, Clinton, Greene, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair and Washington.
My job as the Regional Coordinator is to support planners—professionals as well as citizen planners who serve on planning commissions and zoning boards—across the region. This blog, which will offer reports, announcements, links and other information on a regular basis, is one means for providing that support. I hope you will share information for posting here, respond to posts, and keep tabs on what's happening in the region.

- I grew up in Hillyard, a suburb of Spokane, Washington. In the 1970s, I moved to Western Washington and eventually helped usher in the rebirth of Tacoma's downtown. In 2008, my family and I moved into the St. Louis metropolitan area, where I now work for a small city.
